Stay Away: Utah Animal Pushes Dogs off Cliffs and Eats Road Base

Who wins in a fight between a dog and a mountain goat? According to a story from northern Utah, it would be the goat. 

Three dogs have been killed by mountain goats in the Timpanogos area. They have been gored and even pushed off cliffs. Park rangers are telling people to keep their dogs on a leash to protect them from the goats. They also warn people to stay a safe distance from the mountain goats for their own safety. 

I grew up with goats. We had a small farm and my dad thought goats would teach us responsibility. These animals were constantly getting out of the pen and harassing the neighbors. We even had a buck goat scaring little kids coming home from school. My dad was right about me learning something. I learned that I never wanted to be around another goat the rest of my life.  

There is another story about mountain goats out of Colorado where they were using eco-friendly road patch to fill potholes. When they returned, they found the potholes were back and that mountain goats and big horn sheep had eaten the filler. This doesn’t surprise me at all. If a goat can gnaw on something or push it over, it will be done. 

So, if you want to stay safe and sane here is my tip for whenever you encounter a goat in the wild or on a farm. Turn and run. Get far away from it.  I know the baby ones are cute and you want to pet them, believe me, they only grow up to be obnoxious dog goring, road base eating adults. Just stay as far away from these destructive miscreants as possible.
