We know the Salvation Army in Grand Junction does so much good for so many people in need, and now here's a chance to go behind the scenes to see how it all happens.

In celebrating National Salvation Army week, there will be tours of various Salvation Army facilities throughout Mesa County.

On Thursday, May 11 from 10:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. there will be guided tours of the Cops office at 1235 North 4th Street, with a special tour of the food storage and processing area. The Family Thrift Store next door will also be open for a tour.

The Salvation Army will also offer tours at the Adult Rehabilitation Program houses located at 903 Grand Avenue. A BBQ lunch will be provided afterwards.

In addition to the food, toy, and coat drives the Salvation Army initiates each winter, the organization provides food and other vital services to those in need 12 months out of the  year.

The Salvation Army has been active in Mesa County for 108 years and has literally made a difference in the lives of thousands of people. Here's a chance to go behind the scenes and see how it all works and to watch your charitable donations at work in the community.
