Kansas City can finish off its best-of-seven American League Championship Series with the Orioles this afternoon. The Royals took a 3-0 lead in the series yesterday with a 2-1 win. The Royals, who are looking for their first trip to the World Series in 29 years, have won seven straight postseason games this year.

A Billy Butler sixth inning sacrifice fly broke a 1-1 tie in yesterday's game for the Royals, who've won 10 straight postseason games dating back to 1985. If they win today's game they will become the first team to ever win its first eight playoff games in one postseason.

Today's pitching matchup in KC has Miguel Gonzalez going for the Orioles against Jason Vargas. This will be the first game for Gonzalez since Sept. 28 while Vargas hasn't pitched since Game 1 of the American League Divisional playoff series on Oct. 2.

St. Louis fell behind the Giants two games to one in their National League Championship Series last night with a ten inning, 5-4 defeat. The clubs are back in action tonight in San Francisco with the Giants looking to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven affair.

The loss last night has to be particularly hard for the Cardinals to take as the winning run scored on a bad throw from pitcher Randy Choate (CHOHT) to first base. The Giants' Gregor Blanco laid down a bunt that Choate fielded but threw wildly to first, where second baseman Kolten Wong was covering. The bad throw allowed Brandon Crawford to score the winning run from second.

The Game 4 pitching matchup tonight has Ryan Vogelsong for the Giants against the Cards' Shelby Miller.
