This "Police Week," please take a moment to remember the men and women of the Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriff's Office who served the community in years past. Enjoy these two short videos featuring Robert Grant photos of past Western Colorado law enforcement officers.

Uniforms are a little different and the locations of the GJPD and MCSO have moved, but for the most part, things really haven't changed that much. These law enforcement officers from yesteryear look very much like the hardworking officers serving the valley today.

Obviously, the population of the valley has multiplied in size. Grand Junction's city limits have changed a time or two along the way. Still, things seem really familiar, don't they?

If you've lived in Western Colorado for long, chances are you might recognize some of the officers pictured in the video. Some of the scenarios remain the same. Every now and then an airplane lands on the Interstate, or a car winds up in the river. Nothing new about that. The faces have changed, though.

This "Police Week," observed May 15 through 21, 2016, take a moment to thank a law enforcement officer and an opportunity to look back on our protectors of the past.
