Even if you and your family already know a lot about safety, you can still learn something new, and the Outdoor Safety Fest is a great way to do it.

The free outdoor festival is being held by the Lands End Explorer Post 111 on July 16 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 6th and Main Street in downtown Grand Junction.

The event will have several booths to teach various aspects of how to stay safe, what to do in an emergency, and how local responders work to keep people safe or assist when there's an emergency.

There will also be games, many with safety style themes, and food for those who need something to eat and drink.

Following the outdoor fest is an indoor fundraising event at the Avalon Theater from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. with live entertainment, silent auction, and food and beverage. Tickets for the evening activities will be available at the door.
