Ahead of schedule, Interstate 70 is once again fully open through Glenwood Canyon with four lanes of traffic.

The Colorado Department of Transportation announced today that repair work on the damaged stretch of highway through Glenwood Canyon wrapped up 23 days ahead of the original target completion day stretching into May.

Repair work has been on-going since the February 15 rock slide that closed the road completely for more than a week.

Completion of repairs and rock scaling means traffic is flowing on four lanes all the way through Glenwood Canyon. Now, the only delays experienced my motorists should be weather, and winter weather is forecast for the high county over the next few days.

The bike path is open, except for the stretch between Hanging Lake and Shoshone. Crews hope to have it open by this weekend.
