Week One for high school football is kicking into high gear, just in time for the Labor Day weekend.

After what appeared to be an interesting Week Zero (including Grand Junction’s 41-15 loss to Montrose), all high schools will see action this weekend, as well as seeing some notable changes for teams in Western Colorado.

The biggest changes include the Southwestern League no longer in existence, and Central High School being moved from Class 4A to Class 3A. Central will also compete in the Western Slope League, where Palisade High School currently competes.

Other changes include Fruita Monument High School competing in the Continental North League, Grand Junction moving into the South Metro League, and Montrose in the Foothills League.
