Here's why you never pass a snowplow during weather conditions like those we've seen recently in Western Colorado.

Before we go any farther, you should know the driver of the plow survived, but with serious injuries.

What exactly took place? The semi clipped the plow while attempting to pass on the right. At last report, this violates two rules of the road, both of which apply during even the best of conditions.

  1. Don't pass a snowplow
  2. Don't pass on the right

According to the instruction booklet we all read, both of these are major no-nos.

The result - the plow fell some 300 foot over the edge.

Please take it easy out there. The Grand Junction area received a bit of a reprieve from the snow and ice, but the higher elevations don't have it so easy. Let the plows do their job.
