The REI store in Grand Junction is closing its doors. Don't panic! It's not closing for good. They're simply making a short trek to a new Grand Junction location. Where are they going?

The way things have been lately in Grand Junction, anytime you see a "we're closing" sign in a window, you fear the worst. Fortunately, this isn't the case with REI.

The sign in the window at the 644 North Avenue location says they will be closing on Saturday, February 17, and reopening on Wednesday, February 20. Reopening where?

It seems REI is relocating to 925 Independent Avenue. Where precisely is that? Why does that address sound so familiar? It's the old Office Max location on Independent, next to Modern Classic Motors.

What do you think of this new location? The new building has excellent square footage, ample parking, and let's face it, fewer high school kids hanging out in the parking lot.

Make a point to visit REI's new location when February 20 rolls around. For the time being, they are still open for business at the North Avenue location.
