Grand Junction Police Chief John Camper will be leaving soon to pursue a career with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations in Denver.

Camper first came to the GJPD in 2009 as an interim police chief. The position became official in 2010. During that time he also served as vice-chair of the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training Board and the Hilltop Community Resources board of directors.

I'm honored to be given the opportunity to serve law enforcement and the community at a state level, although it is going to be tough to leave the Grand Junction Police Department. The GJPD is one of the premier law enforcement agencies in Colorado, and I'm very much going to miss our exceptional employees and this very supportive community. - John Camper

The Grand Junction Police Department announced today Camper will vacate his position on December 1, 2017.
