The Grand Junction High School Tigers have been placed under restriction by the CHSAA after head coach Donnie Alexander contact his players on a Sunday violating player-coach contact rules.

According to CHSAA rules, coaches are not allowed to contact their players on Sundays, but Athletic Director Paul Cain told KREX that Alexander text his team on a Sunday regarding off-field workouts. Alexander didn't realize the no contact rule included texts.

Grand Junction High School self-reported the incident after they discovered a violation had occurred.

Along with the postseason ban, Alexander is also suspended from coaching the preseason scrimmages and the Tigers' first two games of the season.

If there are no more violations by the GJHS Tigers, the postseason ban can be lifted before playoffs begin.
