Grand Junction's premiere Big Band, Clark Gault's Swing City Express, spent the last few weeks putting together a performance for a special Valentine's Day event. Go behind the scenes as the band preps for the show, and get a chuckle out of the evening's payoff.

The Swing City Express is a 12-piece Big Band directed by composer/arranger Clark Gault. The vast majority of the band's charts are arrangements by Gault.

This last Saturday, February 11, the band performed at the Commons by HIlltop for the 4th Annual Valentines Dance. This event is a 1920's themed dinner and dance, and typically receives nothing short of a full house.

Check out the video above, and catch a brief glimpse into the preparation work that goes into a gig such as this. Note: please stay with the video until the very end. You'll be glad you did.

Once the gig got rolling, the crowd, and for that matter the band, had the time of their lives. Okay, so things got a little crazy. Valentine's only rolls around once a year, so what the heck.

What's the next stop for the Swing City Express? The band will be featured at a fundraising concert for Grand Junction High School band students. The concert is coming up Sunday, February 26, at the Grand Junction High School Auditorium. For tickets or information, contact Ray at (970) 260-4956.
