Gators Survive Upset by Ole Miss…Syracuse Falls Again

Florida can expect to climb to the top of Monday's Associated Press men's basketball poll after the second-ranked Gators picked up their school-record 19th consecutive win just before No. 1 Syracuse dropped its second straight.

Scottie Wilbekin scored 18 points and Michael Frazier II added 17 as Florida rallied to beat Mississippi 75-71. The win gives the Gators an overall record of 25-2 and a 14-0 mark in the Southeastern Conference. The Gators survived a hot start from the Rebels' Marshall Henderson, who scored all 22 of his points in the first half.

Syracuse was a 66-60 loser to fifth-ranked Duke as Rodney Hood scored 13 points and drew a game-changing charging call. The Orange had the ball down 60-58 in the final seconds when Fair drove past Tyler Thornton along the baseline for an apparent tying layup, but official Tony Greene whistled Fair for charging. And when Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim (BAY'-hym) shot onto the court to argue, Greene slapped him with two technical fouls and ejected him.

Freshman Jabari Parker had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Blue Devils. Jerami Grant finished with 17 points and C.J. Fair added 13 for the Orange.

Syracuse likely will drop below Wichita State after the third-ranked Shockers improved to 29-0 with an 83-54 laugher against Drake.

Tekele Cotton had 21 points and Darius Carter came off the bench to score 15 as the Shockers became the first team to start 29-0 since Illinois in 2005. Fred VanVleet scored 15 for the Shockers, who cut down the nets after the game to celebrate their Missouri Valley championship.

— Freshman Aaron Gordon scored 21 of his season-best 23 points in the second half in leading No. 4 Arizona to an 88-61 rout of Colorado. Nick Johnson's 20 points helped the Wildcats pick up their 25th win and improve to 12-2 in the Pac 12.

— Sixth-ranked San Diego State went into the Pit and came out with a 58-44 loss to New Mexico State behind Cameron Bairstow's 26 points and nine rebounds. Bairstow scored 10 points during a 21-2 run that put the Lobos ahead 50-26 in the second half.

— Jordair Jett scored 16 points and Rob Loe added 12 to carry 10th-ranked St. Louis past George Washington 66-59. The Billikens blew a 14-point lead in the second half before picking up their 19th consecutive win.

— Andrew Wiggins scored 21 points and eighth-ranked Kansas took control of the Big 12 race by clobbering No. 19 Texas 85-54. Joel Embiid finished with 13 points, seven boards and six blocks as the Jawyhawks improved to 12-2 in the conference, good enough for a three-game lead with four remaining.

— Ninth-ranked Villanova got 18 points from Darrun Hilliard and 12 from Ryan Arcidiacono (ARCH'-ee-dee-ah-koh-noh) in a 57-54 win over St. John's. The Wildcats are 24-3 overall and 12-2 in the Big East following their second straight win.

— Russ Smith's 18-foot jumper with 2.2 seconds left gave 11th-ranked Louisville a 58-57 victory win over No. 7 Cincinnati, the Cardinals' sixth straight win and 10th in 11 games. Montrezl Harrell had a team-high 21 points for the Cardinals, who blew a 10-point lead in the second half and trailed by three with 90 seconds left.

— No. 14 Virginia used a 30-5 run in the second half to beat Notre Dame 70-49. Akil Mitchell and Anthony Gill both scored 15 points as the Cavaliers improved to 23-5 on the year.

— No. 15 Kentucky beat LSU 77-76 on Julius Randle's short jumper in the lane with 3.9 seconds left. Randle finished with eight points and 15 rebounds for Kentucky, which also got 21 points from Aaron Harrison and 20 from James Young.

— Frank Kaminsky had 21 points and a crucial late steal as 16th-ranked Wisconsin beat No. 15 Iowa 79-74 for its fifth straight win. Sam Dekker added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the 22-9 Badgers, who swept the season series.

— DeAndre Kane scored 20 points and Georges Niang (johrj nee-ANG') had 19 and eight rebounds to lead No. 17 Iowa State past TCU 71-60. Niang had two 3-point plays in the last five minutes to help the Cyclones pick up their 21st win and improve to 9-5 in the Big 12.

— Austin Nichols had 17 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks as No. 22 Memphis beat Temple 82-79 in overtime. Quenton DeCosey scored 23 for Temple but missed a 3-pointer from the top of the key with a second left.

— Chasson Randle drained a career-high seven 3-pointers and scored 26 points to help Stanford earn an 83-74 victory over No. 23 UCLA. Josh Huestis tied a career high with 22 points and Anthony Brown had 18 for the Cardinal, who are 18-8 following their fifth victory in six games.

— Sam Thompson contributed 16 of his 19 points while 24th-rated Ohio State outscored Minnesota 46-18 in the second half of a 64-46 win over the Gophers. The Buckeyes trailed by 12 early in the second half before taking control with a 17-0 run.

— Johnny Dee provided 16 points and San Diego may have knocked Gonzaga out of the upcoming poll by downing the 25th-ranked Bulldogs 69-66. The Zags lost despite Sam Dower, who finished with 18 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
