Gators Claim Top Spot in Men’s Poll, UConn Stay on Top of Women’s Poll

Florida is the new No. 1 team in The Associated Press men's basketball poll, making the move to the top after Syracuse dropped out following two losses last week. The 25-2 Gators received 47 of the first place votes with unbeaten and second-ranked Wichita State receiving 14. Third-ranked Arizona got the remaining four.

Syracuse tumbled to No. 4 after suffering its first two losses of the season.

Kansas is fifth, followed by Duke, Louisville, Villanova, Creighton and Saint Louis.

Connecticut remains the top team in the women's Associated Press poll. The Huskies improved to 28-0 with two wins last week. They have won 34 straight games dating back to last season for the fourth-longest streak in school history.

Notre Dame stays No. 2 with Louisville, South Carolina and Stanford rounding out the first five.

The second five this week features Baylor, Duke, Penn State, Maryland and Tennessee.
