Five Ways You Can Support a Grand Valley Non-Profit This Weekend

There are some great fundraisers and events going on this weekend in the Grand Valley, and here are five ways you can support a local non-profit this weekend.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: The students of the International Baccalaureate Program at Palisade High School are hosting a donation drive for office and household goods to benefit Habitat For Humanity of Mesa County's ReStore. Saturday, May 14, the Habitat ReStore truck, staff, and volunteers will be at Palisade High School from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. All donors will receive a receipt for their donated goods for tax deduction purposes.

WESTERN COLORADO BOTANICAL GARDENS: The Bloomin' Deals Plant Sale is Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vendors will be selling natural products and potted plants. All proceeds benefit the Botanical Gardens.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF COLORADO: The Law Enforcement Torch Run 5K Run/Walk is Saturday, May 14 at the Walter Walker State Wildlife Area along the Colorado River. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the Walk/Run begins at 10 a.m. The registration fee is $30. The event is hosted by local law enforcement and proceeds go to the Special Olympics of Colorado.

GANG - Giving Adolescents New Goals- Country superstar Lee Greenwood is performing a concert along with veteran J.P. Lane at the Avalon Theatre Saturday, May 14 starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 and $50, and available at Fruita Wood and BBQ Supply, Veterans Art Center, Starvin Arvin's in Delta, and Townsquare Media, 315 Kennedy Avenue.

CMU MAVERICK CLUB STUDENT-ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIP FUND: The 6th Annual Grand Valley Beer Festival is Friday, May 13 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the University Center Plaza. The evening features live music and beer tasting featuring 50 breweries from Colorado and around the world. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
