The Colorado Mesa University Mavericks sit in first place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as they head into the final month of the baseball season.

The Mavericks swept the Metro State Roadrunners this past weekend to improve to 27-8 overall, 18-5 in conference play, and an impressive 20-0 mark at Suplizio Field.

Colorado Christian is in town this week for a four-game series, the final regular season home stand for the Mavericks, who close out the season at Regis and at Colorado Mines.

New Mexico Highlands sits in second place, right behind the Mavericks with a record of 19-8. The team with the best winning percentage in conference games earns the right to host the RMAC Tournament.

Considering the Mavericks unbeaten record at home this season, hosting the tourney is unquestionably high on the priority list of Head Coach Chris Hanks. Next on the list would be hosting the NCAA Regional Tournament.

The Mavericks had the best record in the South Central Region last season, but were not awarded the #1 seed. That means every game is critical.

Mavericks' senior Austin Kaiser leads all of NCAA Division II baseball with a .519 batting average. The Mavericks are tied for 8th in the nation in team batting average at .335.

The Mavericks will host Colorado Christian Thursday (April 17) at 6:05, a double header Friday (April 18) beginning at 3:30, and Saturday (April 19) at 1:00.

All four games can be heard on ESPN Radio 1230 and on line at 1230.espn.com.
