Interstate 70 travelers can expect significant delays Tuesday and Wednesday in Glenwood Canyon.

Helicopter work is being done on rockfall fences which will require the stoppage of traffic in both directions for 30 minutes at a time.

The Colorado Department of Transportation had scheduled to start the work on Monday, but bad weather has forced a change to Tuesday and Wednesday.

Here's what you need to know if you are planning I-70 travel this week.

  • The work and consequent delays will take place from 9am-3pm
  • The eastbound stoppage is at mile marker 122 (Shoshone)
  • The westbound stoppage is at mile marker 131 near Bair Ranch
  • The bike path will be open, but there will be stoppage there as well

Motorists will want to allow for extra travel time, or plan to be through Glenwood Canyon before 9am or after 3pm on Tuesday and Wednesday
