Last Friday, the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association presented several academic awards to the Colorado Mesa University women’s lacrosse team.

The Lady Mavericks were one of 45 NCAA Division II teams to earn the IWLA academic honor squad honor, which is given to any team with a cumulative 3.0 grade point average.

In addition to the team honor, three CMU players (Lexie Chavez, Keri Kopchik, and Maddie Spor) were named IWLA Scholar Athletes.

Student-athletes who receive the IWLA Scholar Athlete award must be a junior and have at least a 3.5 GPA.
