To say the players on Colorado Mesa University’s men’s soccer team are ecstatic this morning would be considered a huge understatement.

The Mavericks scored two second half goals Thursday evening to earn a 2-1 win over No. 8 St. Edward’s in the NCAA South Central Region Championship in Seattle, Washington.

As a result, Colorado Mesa now advances to their first-ever NCAA National Quarterfinal round, and will be one of eight teams competing for the National Championship.

Colorado Mesa’s next opponent is No. 14 Cal State-Los Angeles. The game is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Interbay Stadium in Seattle.
