Colorado Mesa Announces 2015 Football Recruits

Wednesday (Feb. 4) was national signing day for college football, and Colorado Mesa University announced it's 2015 recruits, including some from the Western Slope.

CMU Head Football Coach Russ Martin said his staff this year focused more on quality than on quantity in regards to recruits, and believes there may be some freshmen in this class that could come in and start for the Mavericks right away.

Martin was extremely pleased to sign offensive lineman Marcus Garcia, (6-4, 290) out of Delta, and defensive lineman Matthew Maestas (6-1, 260) out of Montrose, and Devin Ward,(6-4, 190) from Gypsum (Eagle Valley High School)

Martin was also excited about wide receiver transfer Ge'Shun Harris (6-3, 215) who has one year of eligibility remaining after playing at Arizona Western, and five games for Division I Minnesota.

The Mavericks are coming off their first winning season since 2008, with Russ Martin heading into his fourth year. Spring football practice begins in April.
