The Colorado Mesa baseball Mavericks are ranked #1 in the first South Central Region pol of the year.

The Mavericks are the defending South Central Region champions, earning a berth in the NCAA Division II World Series last year,  where they lost in the championship game. Colorado Mesa begins the season ranked #5 nationally by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Two other Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools are ranked in the top 10 in the region with New Mexico Highlands at #7, and CSU Pueblo at #9.

The Mavericks will start the season with an exhibition game February 5th against Cal State San Marcos with their first regular season game February 6th against #15 UC San Diego in LaJolla, California. The Mavericks first home game will be February 19th against Dallas Baptist  University.
