The Palisade Peach Festival is underway this weekend, and it's the perfect time to celebrate one of Western Colorado's greatest icons. The valley's celebration of the peach is nothing new. Check out photos of Western Colorado residents enjoying the almighty peach, via the lens of Robert Grant.

Yes, that's President Eisenhower enjoying peaches during a stop in Western Colorado. You'll notice the platform he is standing on is adorned with several bushels of peaches.

The 6th photo in the gallery has been referred to as the "Palisade Peach Queens." I'm not entirely sure if that was, in fact, their proper title. In any case, it certainly works.

Images of people eating a peach were something of a trademark for Bob Grant. People eating a peach while standing in front of Mt. Garfield was one notch better.

Enjoy the Palisade Peach Festival this Friday and Saturday, August 19 and 20. Don't get so caught up in the music and activities that you forget to enjoy the event's namesake.
