Bride Shaves Head to Honor Husband With Terminal Cancer
The wedding of Joan and Craig Lyons was unlike any you've seen before.
Joan shaved off her hair at their wedding last week -- after the ceremony -- as a way to pay tribute to her new husband, who has terminal cancer.
The British couple tied the knot eight months after Craig was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last August. Both he and Joan are 44 and have known each other for 30 years and decided to turn their wedding into a way to raise money for charity, pulling in close to $4,000.
Craig was touched by his wife's gesture:
It was the obviously the first time I had seen Joan without her hair and she looked beautiful, absolutely stunning."
Joan certainly embraced the moment. "I was really relaxed during the process, just thinking how thankful and privileged I was to be able to do this," she said.
Shaving her head will also help others, too -- Joan's hair will be turned into wigs for girls who need them.
