The body of a male has been recovered from the Colorado River west of Fruita.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Department, rafters floating the river around 11 a.m. this morning (July 10), sighted and called in a report of a body between Fruita and the Loma boat launch.

Following the report, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office along with members of Mesa County Search and Rescue, Bureau of Land Management, Lower Valley Fire Department and Mesa County Coroners Office recovered the body around 2 p.m.

The body is that of a male, but there is no other information available as to the age or possible identity of the victim.

Following the recovery, the body was released to the Mesa County Coroner for positive identification.

Authorities have been searching for a teen who disappeared while swimming in the Colorado River earlier this week, but it is not known if the body recovered is that person.
