We like to think Grand Junction is a friendly and welcoming city. However, there are some, like this thug, who spoiled that when he assaulted and robbed an elderly man.

The Grand Junction Police Department says the assault and theft happened on Saturday (September 10) around 8:30 p.m. at a hotel in the 1900 block of North Avenue.

When police arrived at the scene, the 79-year-old assault victim was outside his room and told the officers the man who attacked him had taken his wallet.

A hotel security camera photographed a man (pictured above) who has been identified as the suspect in the assault and robbery.

Anyone who knows, or has seen, the suspect or may have witnessed the attack are asked to call Crime Stoppers of Mesa County at 970-241-7867.

Information reported is anonymous and if it leads to an arrest can earn the person providing the information a cash reward of up to $1,000.
