When the Associated Press released this week’s Colorado high school football poll, there were very few (if any) changes in the rankings. And the changes that were made would seem minor.

In Class 5A, Valor Christian remained at the No. 1 spot, while Cherokee Trail and Pomona moved up to No. 2 and 3 respectively. Last week’s No. 2, Cherry Creek, dropped down to No. 5 this week.

In Class 4A, Pine Creek stayed on top of the polls at the No. 1 position, while Pueblo South and Denver South each moved up a spot to No. 2 and No. 3. Montrose, who was last week’s No. 2 team in Class 4A, dropped down to No. 5 after last week’s 47-35 loss to Lakewood. Montrose is scheduled to play Fruita Monument this Friday at Stocker Stadium.

The top two spots in Class 3A remain the same this week, with Lutheran at No. 1 and Delta at No. 2. Rifle moved up a spot to the No. 3 spot, and Palisade followed suit by moving a spot to the No. 4 position. Glenwood Springs did not make it into the top 10 in Class 3A, although the Demons did manage to receive 2 points in this week’s poll.

In Class 2A, Brush became the new No. 1 team in this week’s poll, while Kent Denver also moved up one spot into No. 2. The biggest mover in Class 2A was Florence, who moved from No. 6 to No. 3. Faith Christian, who was last week’s No. 1 team, dropped down to No. 5.

Paonia remained at the No. 1 slot in Class 1A, while Limon and Buena Vista moved up a spot to No. 2 and 3 respectively. Cedaredge remained as Class 1A’s No. 6 team, and Meeker moved up to No. 9.

In the Class 8-man category, the top three teams remained the same this week – Dayspring Christian, Caliche, and Norwood. Rangely received seven points this week, but did not make it into the top five teams.

Finally in the Class 6-man category, Stratton Liberty and Eads both remained as the top two teams, while Flemming and Arickaree tied for the No. 3 slot.
